white mute swans with their wings wide open
Mute swans (Cygnus olor) is an Eurasian species that can be found at lower latitudes across Europe into southern Russia, China and the Russian Maritimes. These swans are the largest waterfowl flying birds. The swan in foreground is cleaning and arranging her feathers, using her beak to smear the fat gland at the base of the tail, so that she doesn't get wet. The beak is reddish orange top and black base. The swan in the background shows us her majesty by spreading her beautifull white wings.
